ABOUT AZARIA

Blending elements of R&B and Hip Hop with influences from her Jamaican background, Azaria is the next generation of versatile artistry. With a passion for women’s empowerment, her music speaks to her journey to discover the different dimensions of her womanhood. With the release of her first single in January 2019, Azaria has continuously created music that passionately advocates for women’s autonomy and speaks to the challenges they face on a daily basis. She touches on topics like dating, sexuality, mental health, friendship and more. She also practices what she preaches by building relationships and collaborating with other female artists. Having grown up surrounded by music, Azaria was immediately drawn to the craft and has continued to grow her talent and resumé. She is no stranger to the stage and is never afraid to give her full energy to a crowd.

AZARIA'S PURPOSE

The Meaning Behind Azaria's Work

Through my music, performance, and oral communication, my purpose is to uplift, support, and nurture individuals through their life journeys. I believe my work is to empower from the root of an individual's self-worth, beliefs and passions. This may mean providing my listener with a song for a happy moment, writing a lyric that makes a person question where they are in life, or having an open conversation about issues that we all face as individuals or as a collective. My work is for the people that identify with me (being a black woman). I am consistently making an effort to make sure that other marginalized voices are at the forefront of my individual and joint platforms.

To fulfill this purpose, God has provided me with a platform to share my music with others. I am so passionate about performing and putting on a show for an audience. Whether it is myself singing or someone else singing my lyrics, my music and journey's purpose is to empower individuals to understand themselves better and move forward into their life purpose.

Alongside music, I fulfill my purpose through the podcast "Bad Gyal Chat" with my co-host (Mishmaroon). We this platform to bring awareness to topics, issues, and concerns about the world around us. Our topics range from the experience of dating, our season of Singleness to colorism, racism and Homophobia. The podcast is a place for us as black people to stay connected, support one another and to keep us accountable in anything we do.
